Here are three reader questions from the past week that I have decided to reply to publicly. You can always email me, leave a note or private message on Facebook, or Tweet me with your questions.

Note that I can shorten the emails and edit them for clarity. I always remove the personal information of both the reader and front line employees. If there are managers involved, I may leave their names intact, however.

Jason’s Question About Emirates Delayed Bag

I have been in Paris for 2 days without my bags. I flew business on emirates from Melbourne. What compensation am I entitled to?

Airlines are usually purposely vague when it comes to compensation due to luggage delays.

If you arrive to your destination without your checked bag(s), you should go and buy whatever you need to keep you going first for a day and if the bags haven’t showed up within the first 24 hours, then more. When you are arriving to your home and the bag(s) is delayed, you are not entitled to compensation.

I was once on my way to Rio de Janeiro from Asia and British Airways managed to misplace my checked bag for a couple of days. It wasn’t a problem in getting $1,500 in clothes purchases reimbursed. The check came surprisingly fast and without having to remind them.

Meredith’s Question About Using Hilton’s MVP Rate

I have seen you discuss the Hilton MVP rate recently. Are there restrictions for using this? When I searched using this code, I noticed that it said it was a corporate rate. Will I be required to show any proof? Is it guaranteed or is there a chance I might get denied? Any information you have regarding this code would be appreciated. Also, I have the Little League code which I have used before and it has worked wonderfully. Are there any other Hilton codes that I could benefit from using?

When in doubt, you should always consult the rate rules of the booking that you are making. The only requirement for using the MVP rate is to be a Hilton HHonors member.

LoyaltyLobby is about airline and hotel loyalty programs and how consumers can maximize their benefits using them.

I have learned long time ago that it makes zero sense to try please everyone. Being direct and blunt may be off putting for some as well. If something sucks, why would you need to frame it?

I just hope that we can respectfully disagree (nothing wrong with that) without name calling or foul language.

Conclusion

Keep the emails and messages coming. I will have these READER QUESTION pieces at least once a week (sometimes more often) and try to cover issues that would help LoyaltyLobby readers
