IHG Rewards Club “enhanced” without any public announcement the Ambassador Accelerator away (read more here) that paid 20,000 bonus points for every 15 paid nights for Ambassador program members.
Then, the number of points earned for InterContinental stays changed from flat 2,000 points to the same schedule as with any other IHG brand (10 points per USD charged) read more here), This change was beneficial for most, but not for all.
You can access IHG’s web page for Ambassador program here.
Now, it seems, that IHG Rewards Club has removed the “Elite Bonus Points” that InterContinental Royal Ambassador members earn for their InterContinental stays in addition to the “ROYAL AMBASSADOR BONUS”. Both of these bonuses are for extra 50%.

I am not sure if the number of bonus points that Ambassador members earn has changed or if the “Elite Bonus Points” have been removed for all IHG Rewards Club member stays at InterContinental hotels.
I have requested clarification from IHG regarding the change in number of bonus points that Royal Ambassador members earn for their InterContinental stays.
The ending of the Ambassador Accelerator and move away from flat 2,000 base points for InterContinental stays, negatively affected the number of points that I have earned for my InterContinental stays in 2014.
The number of points that one used to earn for one night stay at an InterContinental was 5,660 before any additional bonus offers after flat base points, Ambassador Accelerator, Platinum and Royal Ambassador bonus points were all factored in.
Have other Royal Ambassador, Ambassador and IHG Rewards Club Gold and Platinum members seen the number of bonus points that they earn for InterContinental stays that post this year (even for stays in 2014) change?
