Marriott Rewards has again tinkered the terms and conditions of its rewards program effective January 16, 2015.
The changes deal with the “guaranteed” Gold & Platinum member breakfast and complimentary WiFi.
You can access the program Term and Conditions here.
Gold & Platinum Member Complimentary Breakfast Exclusive Properties:
The properties below do not provide complimentary breakfast for Gold and Platinum members in case that they lounge is closed and are excluded from the $100 elite member compensation guarantee. In lieu members are eligible for just 1,000 points.
Marriott Rewards has added two properties to the list: The Lexington New York City and Autograph Collection hotel and JW Essex House makes a comeback (it was just removed past summer).
San Francisco Airport Marriott and Marriott Brooklyn Bridge have been removed from the non-participating list.
$100 Gold & Platinum Guarantee In Case Breakfast Not Offered
This has been part of the Elite Guarantees for a long time (read more here), but Marriott has now added this blurb to the Terms and Conditions as well.
Marriott now promised Gold and Platinum members “enhanced” internet and not a Premium Tiered one in case one is offered.
Also, general and Silver members must book direct to get complimentary access.
I have never quite understood why it is so difficult for some Marriott affiliated hotels to offer the Gold and Platinum member complimentary breakfast? These exclusions here and there makes the program just look cheap. You have to bear in mind that resort properties are excluded from the breakfast benefits altogether unlike with Hilton, Hyatt and Starwood.
Maybe some properties are going to offer “enhanced” and Premium Tiered internet at the same time? Only the “enhanced” one will be complimentary for Gold and Platinum members.
