Hilton sent out emails this week promoting an update to its mobile app that should now have more functionality.
The updated app should now allow you to choose your preferred room online, make request for additional services such as snacks and check in indicating your arrival time.
You can access Hilton’s web page for this initiative here.
The app allows you to have a look at the room plan and to choose your preferred room.
You can also check in and indicate your arrival time. You need to pick up your key, however.
Hilton has had online check in already for a very long time that has also showed the room type that the property has upgraded you and has allowed to switch between rooms etc.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Hilton decides to ad their Nor1 upgrades to this system at some point showing the amount of cash required to upgrade your booking from a parking lot view.
All these online check in experiences are worthless before your phone can actually function as your room key as well allowing you to bypass the front desk altogether.
Also, you often have to negotiate about the potential upgrades that the hotel might be willing to give you at the time of checking in, although some hotels do this properly in advance (many don’t).
