AirAsia has launched an Asean air pass products that allows you to purchase set number of credits that are valid for 30 or 60 days that you can use towards flights.
The pass s valid for flights within the 10 Asean countries on AirAsia flights. You are only required to pay actual taxes in addition to the flight credits redeemed.
You can access AirAsia’s web page for this product here.
The downside of this pass is that you must book your flights minimum of 14 days prior to the departure, although you can change them for a fee up to 48 hours of departure.
You can purchase 10 credits pass that is valid for 30 days for $160 or 20 credits pass valid for 60 days for $290.
The flight segment requires 1 or 3 credits and above is an example of 10 credit air pass use.
Note that you cannot use the pass to travel between same cities more than once.
Here’s the table of number of credits required for flights:
There is no rhyme why some flights require 1 credit and some others 3. Probably just supply and demand.
This is one product to keep in mind if you are planning to fly around the Asean countries for 30 to 60 days and can plan minimum if 14 days in advance. Also, the pass works the best if you can bypass any possible connections and fly direct between the cities.
