United Airlines has launched a new offer for up to 50% bonus when buying or gifting Mileage Plus miles on or before March 23, 2015.
You can buy up to 150,000 miles in a calendar year and the price of a mile under this offers depends of your targeted bonus.
You can access this offer and see your bonus amount on United’s website here.
The price of purchasing 150,000 miles with 50% bonus is 2.51 cents each.
Conclusion
During the last devaluation United reduced the number of miles required for handful of awards, but greatly devalued most partner awards in business and first class. There can still be instances, where buying miles could make sense.
United tends to have miles sales at 50% off every once in a while. You can likely score a better deal if you can wait.
Seems United is now using Points.com to process these miles purchases, where they used to process these by themselves.
