One of the benefits of holding minimum of 50 Accor shares (currently worth roughly 50 euros each) has been Platinum status in Le Club Accorhotels program.

To get this benefit you were required to upload an account statement or proof from your broker that you were holding the shares.

Now Accor has been sending the email below to its Shareholders club members stating that “adding new benefits to an already considerable list of advantages”.

And what this new benefit turned out to be? Downgrading the Platinum status that came with owning 50 shares to a Gold one.

Conclusion

Does Accor really believe that its shareholders are stupid and illiterate? When “adding new Benefits” turns out to be a downgrade of Platinum status to a Gold?

Le Club Accorhotels has come a long way over the past two years trying to make the guest loyalty program believable and worth participating to. I hope that their communication department would get their act straight and would start treating shareholders club and loyalty program members as intelligent human beings too.
