Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond Breakfast Benefit Email (Weird & Confusing)

Some Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond members received an email (myself included) this past week with a subject line “Your Complimentary Diamond Breakfast Benefit”.

Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond Breakfast Email

The email was just weird. Why would they send an email to “making sure you know what your benefit is every morning of your stay” unless there would be a downgrade?

You can access Hyatt’s web page for Diamond benefits here.

Here’s the email sent:

Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond Breakfast Email Body

And the small print at the bottom of the email:

Diamond members will receive access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge in hotels that have the lounge and will receive complimentary continental breakfast. At Hyatt hotels that do not have a Regency Club or Grand Club lounge, daily complimentary full breakfast inclusive of one entrée (or standard breakfast buffet), juice and coffee (tax, gratuity and service charges included) will be provided to the member and each registered guest in the room, maximum four (4) people.

For stays at Hyatt Regency Bethesda, daily continental breakfast (tax and gratuity included) will be provided to the member and each guest registered in the room, maximum four (4) people. Breakfast is not valid for in-room dining. Benefit is not valid at Hyatt Place or Hyatt House.

Has there been a change?

Many hotels have allowed Diamond members to have a full breakfast in the hotel restaurant instead of Regency or Grand Club (including Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam – The Kilimanjaro this morning) where the selection is often limited. But it has always been up to the property.

What is full breakfast inclusive of one entree? I don’t believe that the word of ONE ENTREE has been used previously. You can have an American Breakfast and an additional entree item from the menu or something else?

Also the body of the email states that you can have coffee, tea or juice, but not coffee or tea and juice, although the wording on the T&C’s contradict this.

Conclusion

This was just one weird email. Difficult to tell if Hyatt is trying to squeeze in a Diamond benefit downgrade or not. It depends how the properties will interpret this “ONE ENTREE”. Can toast be an entree or not?

And on a side note. Yes. I know. I should be burning some of my Hyatt Gold Passport points. Keeping more than a million sitting on my account make very little sense.
