GOL is a Brazilian airline that is partly owned by Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM.
The airline bought the reminders of Varig years ago and the receipt still often shows the operating airline to be VRG Linhas Aéreas SA.
As I was bored on my Sao Paulo to Asuncion flight yesterday, I had a looked at the sandwich that they gave out only to find out that it was expired the day before. I alerted the FA and she brought me a warmed wrap that was also expired. The person seating on the same also had an expired sandwich.

Conclusion
May be GOL should end serving any food on their international flights unless they can ensure that the products that they serve are still valid. Although I don’t believe that anyone’s life is in danger after earning two days old sandwich, it can nevertheless cause stomach issues depending how well these were refrigerated.
So, if you find yourself in a GOL flight, make sure that the food they give you is still valid and refuse if expired.
