This weeks Compensation Clinic case comes from my stay at the Hampton Inn hotel in Mexico City Centro Historico.
You can access Hampton Inn Mexico City Centro Historico’s website here.
I had two issues at the hotel:
1. First room the air condition unit didn’t work and you couldn’t even open the windows. It was too stuffy outside and they couldn’t fix the unit.
2. At the second room the air condition did work just fine, but the internet access was completely unusable. You couldn’t get anything done. I had to tether on the cell phone network to get things done and this resulted me running out of prepaid credits and having to recharge.
I had roughly an hour conversation with the Operations Manager about the internet issue. He was aware of it, but due to the old building they had some limitations what they could do.
The Operations Manager offered 20,000 Hilton HHonors points for the issues that I accepted. The points never posted and had to chase them 6 months late via Hilton’s Guest Assistance. The hotel never replied to the file that was opened.

This is a very good Hampton Inn hotel and, if you need to be in the city center, the location is also good one.
I truly hope that they have fixed the issue with the internet connection. It wasn’t working at all at the time I was there and having to tether on the cell phone network is not the right solution.
The fact that the hotel never responded to the case that Guest Assistance opened ended up costing them $200 intervention fee. if you promise compensation post, why wouldn’t you post them?
