Airberlin is offering easy status matches to its Topbonus frequent flier program that is part of the Oneworld.
This means that the matched status is not only beneficial for flights on Airberlin and Niki or Etihad but also on all Oneworld Airlines such as American Airlines and British Airways.
You can access Airberlin’s web page for status match here.
You can match any non-Oneworld (they don’t match from the alliance they belong to) alliance frequent flier status.
Here’s how to do it:
- Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and provide the following information:
- Your topbonus number
- A legible scan/photo/copy of your other valid frequent flyer card
- Your application will be reviewed and processed by our Service-Team.
Airberlin Topbonus Status Levels:
Airberlin Topbonus Gold Oneworld Benefits:
Seems that they haven’t included the extra baggage allowance that was introduced to Sapphire (Oneworld status that Airberlin Gold maps to).
Oneworld Status Levels:
Even if you don’t have any plans to take flights on Airberlin, it makes sense to get Oneworld Sapphire level status (if you don’t have one already) for business class check in, extra luggage allowance and lounge access that also applies on domestic American Airlines flights.
As Etihad Airways partly owns Airberlin and controls the Topbonus frequent flier program, you receive benefits for flights taken on Etihad Airways as well such as lounge access, priority check in and extra luggage allowance.
You never know what other status match opportunities there might be down the road.
