When I wrote about a maddening experience that LoyaltyLobby reader had to go through to get promo points posted (read more here), several readers commenting that the online checking could be the reason.
Many of the Le Club Accorhotels point promotions require you to have made the reservation between certain dates and apparently the online checking screws this up.
What seems to be happening is that when you do an online check in, the process modifies the booking date to the check in date/check in date regardless when it was actually made.
This causes huge problems having to contact the Le Club Accorhotels “customer service” to have them fix the issue.
The online check-in date issue can work for your favor as well. If you made a reservation for a two night stay earlier and do an online check in during the current promo (read more here), it should then count as qualifying stay.
Note that Le Club Accorhotels may fix this issue and I hope that they do.
Seems that this is an unintended consequence how Accor handles it online check-in process. Quite frankly, I see no benefit of using any of the online check-ins that many of the hotel chains are now offering (unless they are offering bonus points).
You often have to deal with early/late check-in and/or upgrades with the front desk anyway. You cannot really do these with any of the apps.
