Here are five reader questions from the past week (so many good questions coming in!) that I have decided to reply to publicly. You can always email me, leave a note or private message on Facebook, or Tweet me with your questions.
Note that I can shorten the emails and edit them for clarity. I always remove the personal information of both the reader and front line employees. If there are managers involved, I may leave their names intact, however.
Tom’s Question Using Corporate Rate At Marriott
First of all, I must say a huge Thank You for sharing all the helpful info on your site, as well as interesting stories.
I’ve also got a question. I have a reservation for the UK Breadsall Priory Marriott for September. My current rate is £125 per night. I can also book an advance purchase rate of £110 per night. I was doing some research and found a corporate rate GDY for General Dynamics employees, but the conditions don’t say I must present any document at checkin. When I put the codes MMP/MMF, for Marriott family and friends, there was a clear statement about the needed documents. So, do you think it’s “safe” to book this rate?
Also, I’ve got bookings for Hilton hotels, some with MVP rates and some with US Olympics rates. From what I understand, both from your site and from terms shown on Hilton’s site, I don’t need to be associated with a certain sport team, is that right?
The Hilton MVP and Olympic rates are available for the public. There is no limitation of using them for personal stays.
I am not advocating using corporate rates that one is not eligible for. You may be asked to provide a business card and/or corporate ID. Failing to do so may result you having to pay the going rate for the night at the time of checking in.

Pieter’s Question On Status Match to IHG Platinum
Does IHG Rewards club still has a matching programme? I am SPG Platinum.
IHG Rewards Club stopped doing status matches last year. There are still some quite easy ways to Platinum status, however.
IHG Rewards Club is introducing a new status level next month. Those that get it can then give Platinum status for one of their friends.
Other option would be to purchase Ambassador status that comes with the IHG Rewards Club Gold status and then sign up for the Dining program that elevate your status by one level. You would then be IHG Rewards Club Platinum member.
Slobodan’s Question/Comment About Le Club Accorhotels Account Regularization
I would like to report you that Accor Club is doing very strange policy with loyal members points and accounts. I stayed in Bucurest in Romania and got 3527 points in April.
After two months, they TOOK 3527 points back from my account and wrote Account Regularization. Now i dont have even one point from my Buchurest stay. I called Accor customer service and they told me that there was some problem with exchange rate. I am not guilty for their mistakes. I told them that it is not good for the reputation of Accor Club to steal points at night without any e-mail and wrote them letter, too.
Now, what can I expect, do you have some suggestions?
Do you have contact info for the Accor hotel that you stayed at? I would ask them to repost the stay. Alternatively, you could reminder Le Club Accorhotels on their Facenook and Twitter pages about this issue.
Have any other reader had similar issue with Accor? Doesn’t make much sense.

Don’s Question About Getting The Most Out Of Hotel Loyalty Program
My biggest issue is making sure I’m getting the most points/benefits for my hotel stays (Currently Best Western Diamond). I’m in the 50-100 night category. I use these points for family holidays so making sure I’m getting the best program is important. For airlines I’m pretty much set with WestJet (I’m a Gold Tier Memeber) as they fly out of an airport 10 minutes from my place and Air Canada is 1hr + away. Cars I use National.
Are the other hotel brands (Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, IHG or SPG) around the areas where you travel and are their rates within the budget?
If you are staying 50 to 100 nights per year, you could easily have status in more than one chain.
The reader’s choice of airlines indicates that he is from Canada. Delta hotels that have quite good coverage in Canada + Marriott’s Canada hotels probably would be a reasonable choice. IHG has quite good coverage too. I would probably look at these two chains for stays in Canada.
Jonathan’s Question On Earning IHG Rewards Club Points & Bonus Points Package For Multiple Rooms
I have just booked the HIX Birmingham Star City, UK on a 5000 point bonus package for 3 rooms. My question is I know I will receive the points for one of the rooms, but will I receive the extra 10,000 bonus points for the other two rooms? Have I been stupid in booking this rate for each of the three rooms on one account?
Just trying to find ways to maximise points so that I qualify for the new level of membership.
Unfortunately, you won’t earn points or credits for more than ONE room outside of the North America. You can, however, open accounts for those other two rooms and collect the base + bonus points package points.
