NEW Status Match Promotion: British Airways BAEC to Alitalia MilleMiglia (Other Programs MAY BE Possible)

Today, our reader Thomas alerted us via Facebook of a new status match promotion offered by Alitalia (part of the SkyTeam Alliance) for members of competing Frequent Flyer Programs. As of right now there are only confirmed matches from British Airways Executive Club accounts.

Status Match AZBA

Should you get approved for this Status Match in the Mille Miglia Program it is an excellent way to secure SkyTeam Elite Plus Status which comes with Lounge Access and many other benefits including 4 complimentary upgrades on Alitalia from certain booking classes.

  • To proceed with this status match you have to either enroll a new account with Alitalia or use your existing one.
  • After this you send a simple email request to statusmatchmillemiglia@alitalia.com and include proof of your competing status (I sent a copy of my BA Card and a screenshot of my online account).

Our readers account has been upgraded to Freccia Alata Plus which is their Tier Status for a 18 months period after only 2 business days processing. This will most likely change depending on how many requests they receive.

I already had an account, however this was years old and I totally forgot the membership details so I signed up for a new one using my current residential address in South Asia to receive the Membership Kit should I be approved (which I expect).

Mind you, this promotion might be working with other competing airlines such as Lufthansa Miles & More as well but we don’t have any confirmed reports about that. Please feel free to send a quick email or comment below about your experiences.

Conclusion

A great way to obtain Elite Plus Status with significant benefits on Alitalia as well. I haven’t had SkyTeam status for quiet some time due to me preferring Star Alliance and oneWorld. However I might have some Korean Air and Delta Airlines flights coming up so this will come handy since I need an account to credit these miles to either way. For those of you flying Delta in the U.S. be aware that Delta does not grant lounge access with a solely domestic ticket even if you have SkyTeam Elite+ Status – international itineraries are ok though.

Should you plan to visit the Expo in MIlan, John has recently visited the Alitalia Pavillion & Premium Lounge at this event and reviewed it here on Loyalty Lobby. As Alitalia Elite you will have free access to this as well.
