IHG Rewards Club launched the long waited and delayed Spire Elite level last month. Yours truly have written several pieces about this elite level already that you can access here, here, here, here and here.
Now, that the Spire Elite level is launched, you would think that the properties would properly recognize this status level. Wrong!
You can access IHG Rewards Club web page for status levels here.
The problem now is that some PMS (property management systems) such as Opera and Brilliant don’t recognize this level at all but rather only shows up Spires as a non status Club members and that’s all.
The Holiday Inn Express that I stayed last week told me that they had been just briefed about the issue by the IHG and that there is no firm time when it is resolved.
So, if you are a Spire Elite and have stays at IHG hotels, it makes sense to ask from the front desk what the status shown to them is. If it is not correct, make sure that you get all the benefits associated with the tier including the possible F&B amenity or bonus points.
You would think that IHG would have worked with the PMS providers to ensure that the status level shown at the property level would be ready by the launch. Apparently this is not the case, however.
