Avianca Brazil (formerly OceanAir) that is owned by the same investor group as the other Avianca based in Colombia joined the Star Alliance this past July and its Amigo frequent flier program elite members started to enjoy alliance wide benefits.
Now, Avianca’s Amigo has started to offer status matches for its three tiers Silver, Gold and Diamond between October 1 – November 30, 2015. The Gold and Diamond come with Star Alliance Gold benefits.
You can access Avianca Brazil’s web page for this promotion here (in Portuguese only unfortunately).
All you you need to do is to sign up for Amigo, scan/take a photo of your elite card with other program and email copy of it with your Amigo number to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Here are the status levels matched:

One could only hope that this Avianca Brazil’s Amigo program would join to LifeMiles (probably not happening) because its footprint is currently rather small. I did take couple of Avianca flights this past February and they were uneventful as were my OceanAir flights back sometime in the mid 2000’s.
This status match could work best for those that would like to have Star Alliance Gold status for alliance benefits such as business class check in, extra luggage allowance and club lounge access.
