InterContinental Ambassador recognition program is part of IHG Rewards Club where member points are deposited.
There are several benefits of being Ambassador/Royal Ambassador member (latter “invitation” only). One of the Ambassador benefits is a local gift that sometimes can be a key chain or power adaptor. These typically vary a lot from hotel to hotel.
You can access IHG’s web page for the Ambassador program here.
This past week, I have stayed at two InterContinental hotels that have had a card where the Ambassador member can choose the welcome gift most appropriate for him/her.
I didn’t get a photo of the card at the InterContinental Muscat (I chose washing one dress shirt), but managed to snap one a at the Regency InterContinental in Manama, Bahrain.
The airport drop off would be worth roughly $17 (paid 7 locals for a taxi from the airport to the hotel). Not sure what the local or business gifts would have been.
Good that some InterContinental hotels now give Ambassador members choice what they would like to have as their local gift. I have not come across this at any other InterContinental hotels beyond these two.
I would much appropriate if this is a new chainwide initiative, as I leave 99% of the time the local gifts behind. I just don’t have space in my bags for stuff that I don’t really need. I could always take some extra points, drop off to the airport or laundry a shirt or two.
