InterContinental Hotels Group agreed to purchase Kimpton Hotels back in December 2014 (read more here).
Kimpton indicated on communication for its loyalty program members back in December 2015 that loyalty program integration would happen in 2017 (read more here).

Now, IHG has taken first step by adding the Kimpton brand to its brand portfolio display on IHG.com with a note that these hotels are not IHG Rewards Club participating and that you need to go to Kimpton’s website to book them.
I truly hope that the integration of SPG to Marriott Rewards will take as long as Kimpton’s integration to IHG Rewards Club, Ambassador program or something else.
On a more serious note, it shouldn’t have been that difficult to offer at least points for IHG Rewards Club members few months after the purchase of Kimpton was completed and to make these properties bookable on IHG’s platform.
IHG has had some issues with the Kimpton integration including losing most of the San Francisco properties (read more here) due to union contract and property just left in the past few days in La Jolla.
