American Airlines is about to start its service to Tokyo’s Haneda airport (more convenient for the city than Narita) on February 11, 2016, and has launched a bonus miles promo to celebrate it.
You can earn 5,000 to 20,000 bonus miles per round-trip on American and Japan Airlines marketed flights that are operated by AA.
You can access this offer on AA’s website here.
Here’s how the bonus miles ad up:
The following fare classes are eligible for this bonus on JL marketed flights:
Business Class booked in J, C, D or X; Full-fare Economy Class fares booked in Y, B or H; other Economy Class fares booked in K, M, L, V, S, G or R on Japan Airlines marketed flights.
^Japan Airlines marketed flights earn only 25% of Class of service bonus miles and base miles at 70% or 50% on Discount Economy fares
Haneda is more convenient for central Tokyo (Narita is far far away) and the arrival time wouldn’t allow connections anyway.
The American Airlines flight leaves from LAX at 6PM and arrives to Haneda at 11PM. The HND-LAX service leaves at 1:30AM and arrives to LAX 6:15PM the day before. Leaving at 1:30AM in the middle of the night is brutal.
Remember to sign up for this promo if you are taking this new flight before the end of April.
Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:
