Singapore Airlines just sent out a mailer to their KrisFlyer Members in Thailand announcing that the Airbus A380 will serve the Singapore-Bangkok-Singapore Route again these Songkran Holidays.
Last year Singapore Airlines ran the same promotion (LoyaltyLobby wrote about it here) and it was so popular that they decided to bring it back.
Here is a pricing for a round trip Singapore-Bangkok in Suites at 25,500 miles per way plus taxes/surcharges.
If you like to fly more than one Segment in Singapore Airlines First Class for the same amount of miles you can continue to Jakarta and also take advantage of one night in Singapore without paying for a stopover (otherwise available for 100 USD fee).
For someone who would just like to fly Suites once this might be a great option. If you have KrisFlyer Miles and plan to go to Bangkok for the Songkran Water Festival Holiday anyway this might be the icing on your holiday cake.
A few words about this period: It is traditionally the hottest time in Bangkok with temperatures hovering around 40 degrees Celsius. On top of that Bangkok is suffering from a drought so people are encouraged to conserve water. Based on experienceI don’t expect Thais to even consider following this sensitive advise but just in case I want to let you know that this year Songkran ‘might’ look a little different.
Certainly a worthwhile redemption. I wish this would have been published last week before I issued my LAX-NRT-SIN-BKK ticket because in that case I’d have paused the ticket in Singapore to use the last leg when the A380 is back.
Let’s see if I get to redeem during this time as I’m planning to go back to North America during that time due to to the heat as mentioned above.
