A LoyaltyLobby reader dropped me an email about maddening experience with Le Club AccorHotels after not renewing the Accor Plus paid discount membership that offers some benefits for stays in the Asia-Pacific.
You can access Le Club AccorHotels here.
Here’s the email from the reader:
Le Club Accorhotels and Accor Plus.
I used to subscribe Accor Plus but gave up renewing the program because most of Accor hotels in Korea does not participate this program.
When I tried to log on to Accor hotel site to make reservation, the website said that I have no profile hence can go forward. I sent an email, and the hotel said that the reason that I do not have proper profile is because my Accor Plus card expired. The hotel said that I need to contact Accor Plus to either renew or make transition from Accor Plus to Le Club Accorhotel.
I used to be member of Le Club Accor (Sofitel and then something before it became Le Club). I also have Accor Plus (then known as Advantage Plus) separately.
Several years ago, they forcefully integrated my Le Club account to Advantage Plus, and down graded my status from Platinum to Silver because you will get “Silver” status when you join Accor Plus membership.
I thought that if I do not renew the dining card, my hotel membership will be automatically return to hotel only membership. Didn’t even realize this and I can’t find anywhere that said so. Is this usually practice?
Reply from Le Club AccorHotels:
Dear Mr./Ms. Yoo,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us.
Upon further checking we see that the reason why are unable to access your account is because your Accor Plus membership is already expired.
Kindly note that you may renew your membership or convert your account to the regular Le Club Accorhotels program for you to be able to use your active points.
Additionally. please be advised that we have a specific department which handles all concerns related to an Accor Plus membership.

Your AccorHotels Customer Care Service
Based on my personal experience and emails/comments from the readers, customer service is an area that Le Club AccorHotels should definitely beef up.
It was really bad practice that they downgraded reader’s Platinum membership to Silver when he decided to join the paid Accor Plus membership that offered Silver status at the time.
And it is even crazier that they simply deactivate the account that has points and status when someone decided that the paid membership is no longer something that they need.
Accor Plus should just convert the account to Le Club AccorHotels keeping the status and the points that the member has.
Your best best is to contact the Accor Plus in Australia using the email address provided. Alternatively you can post your question on Le Club AccorHotels Facebook page for everyone to see and maybe Tweet as well.
Let us know how long it takes for Accor Plus to fix this issue for you.
