Fabulous Fridays: New Cathay Pacific Day Suites At The Pier First Class Lounge (HKG)

This week Fabulous Friday makes a stop at Cathay Pacific’s newly renovated The Pier First Class lounge in Hong Kong where now proper day suites are available for passengers to rest in between their flights.

Day Suite HKGSo far the only option for Cathay travelers to rest was at the Cabanas within The Wing First Class lounge but those are a bit uncomfortable (in my opinion).

The new design of The Pier is really stunning, much better than before and the day suites are a really good option to get some sleep in between flights or just relax.

Day Suite BedThere is a pillow (without pillow case) and no blanket. I didn’t ask if that can be provided though. You can close up the window which has a view to two gates that are about 20 meters away.

The flyer in the suite said something about a courtesy time limit of 1:30h but I’m not sure if that is really enforced unless it gets very busy. There are plenty of day suites and I can hardly imagine there are so many customers at the First Class lounge that want to use it.

Inside it was a bit hot though and that’s the problem I have with the cabanas as well just that they are way too cold and you can’t shut off the air condition. The exact opposite at the day suites.

I like when lounges have the option to catch up on some sleep during long layovers or delays. Cathay did the right thing in adding this feature to their First Class lounge.
