A LoyaltyLobby reader dropped me an email about award night issue at the Holiday Inn Express Sedona – Oak Creek. You book paid nights without issues but there are no awards available ever.
You can access Holiday Inn Express Sedona – Oak Creek on IHG’s website here.
Here’s the email from the reader:
Here’s something I am confused about. IHG has recently opened up a HIX in Sedona, Arizona. My wife and I got engaged there 20 years ago and would love to go back and stay on pints for a whole week.
The problem is there are NO available Reward Nights at this hotel and they just opened up. How is this possible? Or is this a case of intentionally not offering rooms on points because of the loss n revenue? Note…Sedona is an expensive town to stay in. Would love to hear your thoughts and advice.
Seems that the hotel is in the process of being rebranded as Holiday Inn Express Sedona – Oak Creek from Sedona Oak Creek Inn. The photos that Tripadvisor reviewers have uploaded and those on the IHG’s website match.
The reviews on TripAdvisor the the Sedone Oak Creek Inn are simply put horrible. It is the second worst hotel in the area.
I have sent an email to out contact at IHG to find out what is going on with the reward night availability. It is not uncommon, however, for the award night availability to take some time to appear after the hotel has entered the IHG’s system.
You have to remember that these hotels must make minimum of 5% of their rooms at any given night available using points. Some hotels do offer greater availability. Just to keep this on mind.
