American Airlines Instant Gold Or Platinum Status Through September 9, 2016 + Fast Track Offer

American Airlines has again sent out instant Gold and Platinum offers that come with a fast track offer thrown in.

American Airlines Instant God & Platinum Offers With Fast Track To Keep Until January 2018

The instant Gold or Platinum status is valid through September 9, 2016, and you can keep the status until January, 2018 by completing the fast track offer.

You can access the Gold offer on AA’s website here and the Platinum one here.

Note that these offers are targeted. Check your email and spam folder for possible invitation. The registration code for the Platinum offer is HVC2B.

The Gold offer comes with 10 free 500-mile upgrade certificates (flights under 500 miles are eligible for cert free upgrades).

The Platinum one doesn’t come with free 50-mile upgrade certs but 25,000 bonus miles for completing the fast track challenge.

The Gold challenge requires 7,000 EQM miles and the Platinum one 12,500 on American Airlines or select other airlines’ flights.

The eligible airlines are American Airlines, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines and Qantas.

Here are the American Airlines Gold benefits:

  • Special upgrade privileges including unlimited complimentary upgrades on flights 500 miles or less
  • 25% mileage bonus on eligible flights
  • Complimentary access to Preferred seats
  • 50% discount on Main Cabin Extra seats
  • Priority check-in, security and boarding at the airport
  • One free checked bag

Here are the American Airlines Platinum benefits:

  • Special upgrade privileges including unlimited complimentary upgrades on flights 500 miles or less
  • 100% mileage bonus on eligible flights
  • Complimentary access to Main Cabin Extra and Preferred seats
  • Priority check-in, security and boarding at the airport
  • Two free checked bags

Conclusion

American Airlines have done these targeted offers several times in the recent past. If I would not have lifetime Platinum status with AA and would be targeted for the Platinum offer, I would try to complete it.

American Airlines Platinum status maps to Oneworld Sapphire that allows business class check in, business class lounge access, priority boarding and excess baggage with all the alliance airlines.

I believe that the eligible flights merely need to be marketed by the airlines listed above. Oneworld and American Airlines credit the flights based on the marketing and not the operating carrier. You can even credit Emirates operated Qantas flights to Oneworld frequent flier programs.
