IHG Rewards Club launched Spire Elite status last year that requires either 75 nights or 75,000 elite qualifying points.
The status comes with two benefits over Platinum status; 100% bonus on paid stays and either 25,000 bonus points or the ability to gift Platinum status for someone with no or Gold one.
You can access IHG Rewards Club’s Spire Elite status page here.
Spire Elite Benefits:
Once you have the 75 nights in for the year, you can then choose the Spire Elite Choice Benefit.
You must log into your IHG Rewards Club account (do it here) and click “Spire Elite Benefits” tab.
You can then choose between 25,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points or gifting Platinum status.
IHG Rewards Club then confirms that the points have been deposited to your account.
And they show up there immediately.
Seems that I qualified for the Spire Elite status close to 7 weeks earlier than in 2015 when it was late July. I now have 44 paid nights for the year (four more already consumed that haven’t posted).
The Spire Elite status really hasn’t done anything for me. I only stay at the non-InterContinental brands of the IHG when there are no other choices (including Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Starwood, higher end Accor, Fairmonts etc) or if I just need something for quick overnight.
The Spire Elite benefits are weak but I do really like my Royal Ambassador benefits at the InterContinental hotels.
