Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Offers Club Lounge, Shower Access To Platinum Members Without Actual Hotel Stay

If you’re a Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Platinum member and find yourself having a long layover at Frankfurt Airport you might be surprised that the Sheraton Airport Hotel actually offers you lounge access.

Not only that but Platinum members are also eligible to use the shower which are right next to the lounge and all that without even staying at the hotel.

During one of my stays at the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport (I stayed here a good 15-20 times) the lady at the towers club reception desk said ‘next time you’re at Frankfurt Airport visit us if you have extra time’ which left me confused so I asked if I don’t need a stay to use the Club Lounge facilities. She said no, the hotel welcomes all Platinum Guests to the lounge regardless if they stay at the hotel or not. I took them up on the offer when I was at the airport 2 months later.

Sheraton Lounge Frankfurt

I was talking to a friend yesterday who complained about a 9 hour layover at Frankfurt Airport. He contemplated booking a day room at the Hilton or Sheraton when I remembered this arrangement I used a while back while picking up my parents from the airport and their flight was 3 hours late. I think the lounge at the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport is one of the best with a generous breakfast and nice evening spread.

Over all the years that I visited the hotel I was never aware of this arrangement. Not only can Platinum members use the lounge but they also get access to the showers and used to be able to use the sauna before (has since been discontinued as one of our readers noted). The complimentary access is only for the Platinum member, no companion.

I found an article that goes back to 2012 by Hotel-Zentrale, a German website that publishes hospitality news (access here) and it also mentions this access rule while reporting about recent renovations.

It says the Towers-Lounge can be utilized by non-hotel guests against a fee and on a complimentary basis by SPG Platinum Members even without a room reservation.

Another friend mentioned this was also possible at the Sheraton Amsterdam Schiphol.

I have in fact often used lounge facilities at Frankfurt Airport either while visiting for business reasons or after completing my flights. The Lufthansa Welcome Lounge closes quite early at 12:30pm so I used the LuxxLounge (former AA Admirals Club) with my Priority Pass most of the time.

This is a very generous offer and considering the nice breakfast and happy hour options at the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport it might be really worthwhile to take a quick break there depending on your schedule. I don’t see this offer prone to a large amount of misuse as Frankfurt Airport isn’t exactly centrally located and the amount of people who visit the lounge as external guests based on their Platinum status alone without staying there should be minimal. In any way it’s a friendly offer and good advertisement that makes me coming back even as a staying guest.
