Scandic operates hotels mainly in the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Norway & Sweden) and was owned by Hilton for a while in the early 2000’s.
Scandic Hotels runs its own frequent guest program called Friends and is now offering “3rd Floor” status for those that sign up. This usually requires 25 nights.
You can sign up for the Scandic Friends at the 3rd Floor here (page is in Swedish).
Here are the Scandic Friends status benefits:
You basically earn more points, get 10 euro restaurant voucher for every night of your stay and have better award availability.
You mainly find Scandic Hotels all over the Nordics. The hotel chain has few hotels in Germany, Poland and Belgium.
There are the chains of Nordic Choice, Radisson (Carlson), First Hotels, Thon and Scandic in the Northern Europe.
IHG has quite ok coverage in Finland due to partnership with a Finnish co-op. Accor recently lost most of its Nordic properties. Hilton has few properties. Starwood has one Sheraton in Stockholm and there are couple of Marriott properties both in Denmark and in Sweden.
If you are planning to stay at any of the Scandic hotels over the next year or so, it makes sense to sign up and collect the status benefits during your stay.
