A LoyaltyLobby reader sent me a direct message on Twitter regarding Hilton HHonors account closure and what to do next.
You can access Hilton HHonors page for statuses here.
Here’s the message:
Hello John. Just found out that my HHonors account has been closed (???!!!) representative told me to write an email to a given address. Any idea how to speed up the process ? With the help of social media for example ?
This reminds me of a similar situation that a reader emailed me couple of weeks back (read more here).
I assume here that the reader recently made a status match with Hilton HHonors to get Diamond status.
Seems that Hilton HHonors has retroactively after upgrading to Diamond went back and disabled some accounts that is a very bad practice. Why offer lucrative status match program and later regret it.
I would advise the reader to make a post on Hilton’s Facebook page and Tweet them as well. The email route is time consuming and may not achieve the preferred outcome.
The problem with the status matches always is that the program matching really has no way of authenticating how real the submitted documents are. They don’t have access to competitors’ databases.
I would assume that there is fair amount of photoshopping going around. There was even the case where someone was selling the Diamond status on eBay (read more here).
As long as the documents submitted by the reader are authentic, there is no issue going after Hilton HHonors and getting the account reinstated. Others have needed to do the exact same thing.
