This weeks Fabulous Friday is about hotels which provide suggestions to their guests who like to facilitate walking/running routes in the immediate area of their accommodation.
I found that in Japan it is very common for hotels to have material for guests prepared in the room where they suggest a few options for a nice walk or more serious running routes.
As I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Tokyo this week a new folder caught my attention that provided just this information. I had seen the same information on the desk of my Park Hyatt Tokyo room earlier this year.
In fact there are so many parks in Tokyo that it’s hard to choose where to go first but even right next to the hotel you find the Shinjuku Central Park while a short distance away there is Shinjuku Gyoen and Yoyogi Park available, inviting visitors.
Outdoor walking, running or biking provides a nice alternative to the usual hotel gym (I hate gyms) with plenty of green and fresh air.
I really like when hotels offer these suggestions without having to contact the concierge for it. Sometimes finding such a map on the desk gives me the necessary kick to get out of the hotel and get some fresh air (and exercise).
