Earlier this month, Hilton HHonors launched a promotion for buying points offering up to a 100% bonus that is open to all members. This offer ends on Thursday (October 21).
All members can buy up to 80,000 Hilton HHonors points yearly that are doubled to 160,000 under this promotion. Hilton sometimes doubles the number of points one can purchase (last time it was 180,000 for some members that were then doubled to 360,000).
You can access this offer on Hilton’s website here.

Does it make sense to purchase Hilton HHonors points?
As is the case with all points purchases, the answer is yes and no. There are advantages when using points such as the fifth night free and no minimum stay requirements for Diamonds (sometimes hotels may have a 3 day minimum around the holiday).
You can sometimes save a lot when using points for Cash + Points reservations.
Here are some cases that are good use for Hilton HHonors points:
New York On New Years Eve
This is an examples where minimum stay required has been waived for a Diamond account. The hotels that only show the price using points are those that would require you to book a multiple night stays. The DoubleTree Times Square is very expensive at this time of the year and is very good use of points.
Waldorf-Astoria Palm Jumeirah Cash + Points
I have used Cash + Points at this property previously and it tends to offer the best value. The price is 1212 AED++ ($330++ USD) per night, 60,000 points or 24,000 points + 367 AED.
The best value is the Cash + Points even when you purchase the points: 24,000 points is $120 and the 367 AED is $99.91 + you only have tp pay the ++ (tax and service charge) on the cash portion and not on the full amount. So even before taxes, you’d save about $110 USD off the lowest regular rate.
There are a number of properties in Egypt that offer very good value. The Ramses Hilton in Cairo is just $50 per night if you purchase the points required per night. There are number of resorts in Egypt that are 5,000 points per night, although many of those are very cheap using paid rates too.
Buying Hilton HHonors points when they offer 100% bonus makes sense if you use them during high occupancy periods during which the prices are throughout the roof. Cash + Points also allows you to save quite a bit at specific properties.
This is the cheapest price that Hilton HHonors sells points once or twice a year. There occasionally are targeted offers with the same bonus.
I purchased the maximum number of points allowed earlier in the year during one of these 100% sales and the points were instantaneously posted to my account.
Here are the terms and conditions of this offer:
