UBER: $65 Off Two Rides From Select U.S. Airports To Your Destination With American Express Until Dec 31st 2016

UBER & American Express have a promotion which offer $65 off two rides from select U.S. Airports when selecting payment with AMEX.

This is a significant Amount which gets you pretty far for example from New York JFK to Manhattan which is one of the more extensive rides.

It’s a nice way from UBER to conclude the year even though it’s limited to customers who have an American Express Card to use as payment Method. Also keep in mind this promo is only valid for rides from the airport and doesn’t apply going there.

The promotion is available from the following airports:

  • New York (LaGuardia)
  • New York (JFK)
  • Newark (EWR)
  • Chicago O’Hare
  • Chicago Midway
  • Seattle Tacoma
  • Boston Logan
  • Las Vegas McCarran
  • Houston Bush Intercontinental
  • Washington Dulles (IAD)
  • Washington Reagan (DCA)

You can find details on the UBER Website (access here).

First, enter the promo code AMEXAIRPORT in the Uber app prior to requesting a ride from any of the select airports. Then, make sure an American Express Credit or Charge Card is linked to your Uber account and selected as your payment method for the ride. Any American Express Card Member with an American Express Credit or Charge Card on his or her Uber account may apply the promotion code AMEXAIRPORT to take advantage of the promotion. Prepaid Cards are not eligible. This promotion will cover your fare up to $65 per ride. Any amount over $65 will be charged to the American Express Card on your Uber account that is selected as the payment method for the ride. The discounted fare will be displayed on your post-ride email receipt. If your total fare is less than $65, you will only receive a discount up to the cost of the ride and you will not be able to use the remainder of such amount for future discounts.

So to summarize, in order to take advantage of the promotion one must (obviously) have an UBER account as well as an American Express Charge/Credit Card. The card doesn’t have to be under your own name.Follow these steps to get yourself set up:

  • Sign Up for an UBER account with our invitation link (see here) for additional credits.
  • Set an American Express card as payment method
  • Enter promotion code AMEXAIRPORT
  • Ride!

The last day of the promotion is December 31st 2016 so should you will be able to cover your Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve visits.

Getting a discount of $65 twice is a significant amount of money that can be saved here providing UBER cars are available at the airport of your choice. I can see this promotion to be very popular although it’s limited to American Express cardholders or those who have someone who can borrow them their card for this purpose.

The UBER website offers a link to sign up for an AMEX card if case customers don’t have one yet. I would say that’s not a very good idea to sign up via that link. Should you be interested in a new AMEX there are lucrative offers out there if you shop around a little such as the SPG Amex or Platinum Charge Card with generous welcome bonuses.
