IHG Rewards Club Spire Elite Status Valid Until December 31, 2018? (Glitch Or Real?)

When I had a look at my IHG Rewards Club account earlier this week, I realized that they had extended my Spire Elite status through December 31, 2018.

I have requalified for the status both on nights (somewhere late spring this year) and points too and will end up having 40 or so rollover nights for 2017 when all is said and done.

You can access IHG’s web page for status benefits here.

The status, however, should be only valid until December 31, 2017, until I hit the 30 or so nights in 2017 (counting in the rollover from this year).

I was wondering if other members have had their status extended already until the end of 2018 or whether this is just another glitch at the IHG’s end?

Not sure exactly when this expiry date changed but it must have been in the past week or so. I have had to check my account few times for couple of misposted stays and that they were reposted correctly.

And yes I know. Should burn some points. The points for the summer Share Forever promotion still haven’t posted (nothing ever tracked and IHG is “investigating”) and will end up completing my personal Accelerate offer this time around. Once these are posted, should be another 100K to 150K points.
