Smiles is the frequent flier program for the Brazilian based GOL airline, although run separately ala Aeroplan.
Smiles has had quite a few nice award “specials” over the years including the Qatar Airways first class one that we have covered here on LoyaltyLobby. Sebastian recently wrote about their Diamond Club (read more here).
You can access Smiles here.
A LoyaltyLobby reader from Hong Kong emailed me late last week about Korean Air specials available at just 35,000 Smiles one-way in business class.
These specials are apparently available to most (if not all) Korean Air destinations from Hong Kong but only one-way. This is a great way for those Smiles members that are based in Asia to get a cheap award ticket to Europe or North America.
I wouldn’t suggest that someone should sign up for Smiles and buy miles to take advantage of this offer. Smiles is a difficult program and miles needed for awards can change at a whim.
You can usually buy Smiles during their sales at less than a cent each. As a matter of fact, I just received an offer to buy up to 100,000 for bit more than $800.
