IHG Rewards Club had the “Where’s Iggy” advent calendar promotion for members in Europe back in December (read more here) that allowed earning 2,500 free points over the course of the promotion (great way to top up an account or extend the validity of points).
I have now received several emails from members that have not had anything post to their IHG Rewards Club account by the deadline given by IHG (January 14).

Here’s one email from a reader:
I assume you get thousands of messages on this topic, but there is an serious issue with IHG Where is Iggy promotion. The 2500 points for just participating should be credited to our accounts till 14th of January 2017, but they still not.
I’ve contacted with IHG via livechat ant they told me, that “For this promotion, member will not specifically earn the points by just submitting answer. This is the common questions regarding this promotion and we really apologize for the inconvenience”.
So now they stated that the points were not guaranteed by participating. Unfortunatelly they T&Cs stated:
“REWARD FOR CONTINUOUS PLAY
If you are an IHG® Rewards Club member you shall receive a bonus five hundred (500) IHG® Rewards Club points for every five (5) consecutive days you enter into the Promotion.
The number of consecutive days you have entered the Promotion shall reset each time a consecutive 5 days of entering is achieved. Therefore, for clarity, the maximum number of bonus IHG® Rewards Club points that may be awarded for consecutive play, throughout the duration of the Promotion, is two thousand five hundred (2,500) points.
Bonus IHG® Rewards Club points for continuous play shall be awarded directly into the entrant’s membership account in one single tranche between 1st January 2017 and 14th January 2017. Bonus points will be added to the membership account number given on the entry form and it is solely the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the membership number/details given are correct. If a membership number is not given or is entered incorrectly then the bonus points shall be forfeited.”
So in my opinion that’s just cheating and IHG try to fool everybody, who waste their time to everyday Iggy searching.
They told me that in 72h a “promotion specialist” will contact me and make some decisions. But I’m demanding now not only 2 500 points, but also another 2 500 points as compensation.
Maybe you get some answers faster.
The information the reader received from live chat is completely wrong. I decided to ask IHG what was happening with this promotion.
Here’s an update from the IHG spokesperson:
I spoke to the team in Europe. They’ve been a bit delayed adding points to members’ accounts, but that should be rectified in the coming days. They apologize for the delay.
So, the points should soon be in the member accounts for those that participated in this offer.
Not sure what the reason is behind this delay? Perhaps a larger number of participants took part in this offer than IHG Rewards Club originally anticipated?
