Qatar Airways Unveiled Their New Business Class Suites Product ‘QSuites’ At ITB Berlin

Qatar Airways used the stage at the ITB Tourism Fair in Berlin to unveil their new Business Class product Qsuites which was announced last month.

The new product is basically an enclosed Business Class Suite that also features the function to combine the middle block to a family/group setting or alternatively keep the passengers privacy through dividers.

As far as the roll-out goes, there was little to no information on what routes and aircraft will be among the first to showcase this new suite product.

When Qatar Airways announced in late February that they would come out with a brand new Business Class product (we wrote about it here), it got people talking because their existing product on the A380 and Boeing 787 is already top of the line.

As can be seen from the video below, their designers did not disappoint when creating this new product.

There are some interesting features in this new cabin style, especially the varieties of the middle blocks in this 1-2-1 configuration of suites, which can be either completely isolated from each other or combined to a pair or – as a real novum – a family style space of four.

You can access the Qatar Airways website where more details about this product are available here.

In either way it sets a benchmark for space, design and privacy in Business Class. At the same time, once rolled out it will give the competition a serious run for their money. While certain carriers haven’t changed their Business Class seats for up to a decade and are even actively downgrading their product (Hello, British Airways!). Instead of recognizing the desire for privacy while traveling other carrier like Lufthansa still kept a 2-2-2 configuration in Business Class when introducing their new product.

While we all await where and when this product will take to the skies let’s also hope that eventually it will force competing carriers to step up their game and finally improve their own products.

Indeed, this is a fantastic new design Qatar Airways rolled out. The hard product in Qatar’s First and Business Class is quite good but Qatar’s customer service often lacks substance and there have been some product downgrades recently. Especially the highly overrated Al Safwa Lounge in Doha and the absolutely horrible lounge options Qatar Airways provides to oneWorld Sapphire and Emerald Status customers are not aligning well with their self imposed standard of being a five star airline.
