Etihad Airways is following on Emirates footsteps (read more here) by now allowing first class lounge access in Abu Dhabi for cash (payment by credit card only).
The price is rather steep and starts at $200 for two hours if one is traveling in economy or business class and doesn’t have status with the airline.
You can access Etihad’s web page for paid first class lounge access here.
Here are the prices:
- If you’re flying in Business or Economy Class, you can choose from 2, 4 and 6 hour upgrade packages starting from only USD $200 / AED 735.
- As a First Class guest, you can invite a companion to join you in our First Class Lounge & Spa for only USD $100 / AED 367.
- If you’re an Etihad Guest Gold member travelling in Business Class, you’ll have a preferential upgrade rate of only USD $100 / AED 367.
I have been to the first class lounge several times when flying in economy, business or first class (due to Etihad Platinum status when not in first).
The lounge itself is fine, although no idea why it took such a long time to reopen it. When I was there last time during the morning bank, the lounge was rather full but soon emptied.
The food and beverage are fine, but certainly not worth $200 for two hours. I could perhaps guest a traveling companion for $100 if no access otherwise.
