IHG Rewards Club is trying to get members to book the “Your Rate” that tends to be few percentage points lower than other discounted rates and only available to those signed up for the program.
Now, IHG Rewards Club has launched a promotion for those that book and stay using this rate in Grater China (China, Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan) between May 15 – 21, 2017.
You can access this offer on IHG’s website here.
There are 300 participating hotels in Greater China and IHG promises to “surprise” 2,100 members that have booked this specific rate. I would assume that this means that every hotel is obliged to provide something extra for one guest booking this “Your Rate” daily.
All the hotel chains have been pushing their “Member Only” rates latelt due to trying to battle with the OTAs with whom they tend to have “Rate Parity” agreements with. This means that the headline prices on official websites and OTAs basically match each other 99% of the time.
These Rate Parity agreements that have gotten hotels and OTAs in the hot water don’t apply to these member only rates. As a result both hotels and OTAs have been pushing them as of late.
