This week our Fabulous Friday is about hotels who offer their Elite Tier Guests the complimentary breakfast at the hotel restaurant rather than at a Club Lounge which isn’t available at many properties.
All major hotel loyalty programs offer their top tier members a complimentary breakfast option that is usually limited to the executive club but often guests are allowed to choose the restaurant as well.
There are also cases where a hotel brand simply doesn’t have an executive lounge (for example Park Hyatt Hotels, Autograph Collection etc) so the property allows each registered guest to use these privileges at the restaurant.
Needless to say the quality of breakfast at the restaurant is usually superior compared to the average executive lounge option where the morning offerings are often sparse and comparable to a continental breakfast assortment.
I remember some of best breakfast buffets from the past year at the following properties:
- Park Hyatt Tokyo (Girandole)
- Grand Hyatt Berlin (Vox)
- Park Hyatt Beijing (China Grill)
- The Stones Autograph Collection Bali
- Park Hyatt Seoul (Cornerstone)
On top of the restaurant option some properties such as the Park Hyatt Tokyo also allow to order the breakfast via room service and have it delivered to your room.
While certainly a generous option to offer this without any surcharge, the selection is of course rather limited so I’d always recommend to visit the Girandole restaurant in Tokyo should you have the choice.
Most of the restaurants also offer an a la carte option besides the buffet where one can order items such as Egg Benedict, Waffles, Pancakes etc.
Daily complimentary breakfast is one of the main reasons why I like to maintain my hotel elite status with the major chains. Some rates would have breakfast included but especially if you stay on points you’d have to pay extra for all these little goodies so definitely a reason to look after your qualification.
On the other hand I often found that I’d probably stay in bed another hour (especially on weekends) if it wasn’t to go down and grab breakfast before it ends.
