A LoyaltyLobby reader sent me a question by email regarding a Lufthansa fare class eligibility for Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles credit.
Here’s the email from the reader:
Maybe you also have no idea about that, but I am a member of Turkish airlines miles and smiles program.
Now I am really surprised that my last Lufthansa business class bookings in class P don’t get awarded at all and I am getting zero miles.
Can that be right for a star alliance flight in business class where the tickets were still one time more than 3k euro and one time even 4K euro?
You usually have to pay great attention to the eligible fare classes for mileage credits when flying on economy. Usually this is not an issue, however, when flying on business class.
Seems that Lufthansa P class (and likely same fare class on Swiss, Austrian and Brussels) is an issue for many Star Alliance programs like a reader has found out.
Turkish new website is a huge mess but the following table s available on their old one:
Here’s Singapore Airlines one for Lufthansa:
And United Airlines one:
Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines have had a spat. Lufthansa hasn’t been huge fan of Turkish Airlines sweeping passengers from German airports and transporting them to Asia and Middle East via their hub in Istanbul.
Seems that this P fare class has been a “casualty” of this not so warm relationship. This is good time to reminder readers to check that the booked fare class is eligible for credit in the frequent flier plan that they are crediting it to.
