Two Accor Sebel Hotels Outskirts Of Sydney Switching To IHG

A LoyaltyLobby reader dropped me an email about couple of Accor to IHG reflaggings that will both take place on July 1, 2017.

Sebel To IHG

Two Sebel branded hotels (this is Accor brand that is available only in Australia and New Zealand) will become IHG. One will switch to Crowne Plaza and the other IHG brand is still unclear (one of those “independent” hotels bookable on IHG platform).

You can access IHG Rewards Club here.

  • The Sebel Kirkton Park Hunter Valley has just become Kirkton Park Htl Hunter Valley (access here)

Conclusion

This Sebel brand has always been confusing to me. Some of their properties are definitely select service such as the one here in Auckland (close to the Hilton) while others like the one being converted to the Crowne Plaza definitely looks like a full service to me.

These two properties must have had the same owner that decided to switch the flags of both of the properties at the same time. Not sure if the Crowne Plaza brand is better than the Sebel one (thinking from the consumer perspective?).
