This week’s Compensation Clinic-case comes from my transit stay at the InterContinental Amman where I had previously stayed at probably 10+ years ago.
You can access InterContinental Amman’s website here.
Here are the issues I had:
– My pool view suite somehow had view of a parking lot (Royal Ambassador upgrade)
– This “deluxe” suite hadn’t had any work done for 20+ years. It was like time warp back to the 1990’s.
– You could only control the AC + or – 3 units. I don’t think that it worked at all.
Note that I merely communicated these issues to the Ambassador desk at the time of checking out. I didn’t ask any point as a compensation as I have two million of them sitting on my account.
Here’s the email from the property:
Thank you for staying at the InterContinental Jordan. We appreciate you taking the time to make us aware of your experience during your recent stay, and for sparing the time to meet me upon your departure yesterday.
Please accept our sincere apology for any shortcomings you may have experienced in particular the A/C problem and the other comments you provided it to us, please be aware that it is not the usual service InterContinental Jordan has been known for and such an incident will not go unnoticed, but will be shared with the management and concerned departments. Please rest assured that the necessary actions will be taken to ensure similar situations can be avoided in the future.
It is our goal to consistently provide superior service and accommodations and your comments are very important to us and the feedback we receive from our valued guests, like you, enables us to target problem areas. Furthermore, in an effort to retain your patronage and to demonstrate our commitment to guest satisfaction, as a gesture of good-will, we would be honored to upgrade your next stay to one of our club suites with 10000 Points already added to your ROYAL AMB REMOVED.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your comments with us, and looking forward to welcome you in the future therefore do not hesitate to contact me upon you next visit so I can personally take care of the necessary arrangements.
This is the only hotel I have stayed in Amman. I have no idea what is the state of the Le Meridien, Grand Hyatt, Sheraton and Marriott hotels that also have presence in the city. I guess that Jordan is a tough market.
BTW Uber drivers call the airport prison as the police is trying to catch drivers picking up and dropping off clients there. You would think that they had better things to do than fine drivers?
