Marriott claims to have the lowest prices available on its website and backs this promise on “Look No Further” Best Rate Guarantee-program that promises to match the lower price and further discount it by 25%.
There are obviously some terms and conditions attached to this and now Marriott has changed the Rate Type Exclusions effective on September 28, 2017.
You can access Marriott’s web page for Look No Further-program here.
Here’s the change:
- Rates available on Marriott online or voice channels compared to Marriott online or voice channels (for example, comparisons to rates found on later searches on the same or different Marriott channels) including rates found on Marriott-affiliated, private label, or property standalone websites.
Well. I guess that this means that members really should disregard the “Look No Further” and start looking further for other Marriott branded, private label or property specific websites to find lower rates. If these sites are excluded, they must have lower prices, right?
Look No Further no longer applies if the hotel price drops within 24 hours. Doesn’t make much sense.
Perhaps this could also mean that Marriott will use their other language version websites such as the partnership in China with Alibaba to dump inventory at a lower price that you cannot use to price match (difficult to find as well).
Many IHG hotels in Japan use their Japanese version websites to sell room types and offer prices that are not available on the English website. Not sure how widely this apply to other chains.
