A LoyaltyLobby reader sent us a message using Facebook regarding the recent Club Carlson promotion for free Friday night ecertificate for every two stays (read more here). I already wrote (access here) about the redemption process.
Here’s the question from the reader:
I have a question about Club Carlson Free Friday night offer. I got this e voucher but when I try to make the reservation all hotels are fully booked. Do you think it is possible or they just bloked all dates? Thanks for your opinion
I run into this same issue when I was booking my second Free Friday Night from this promotion and friend of mine was complaining that she couldn’t find any availability for the exact Friday night in London that I had booked (was wide open).
At the time when I was booking the second night, I hadn’t received the email and Club Carlson had merely deposited the ecertificate to my account.
The issue is that when you only use the ecertificate number you won’t find any availability for any date. You need to use both the ecertificate number and the promocode FREEFRI to bring up the promotional night availability.
Seems that with some properties this overrides with their standard night availability, however,
The May Fair (London)
This hotel seems to be playing games with their standard award availability assigned to Club Carlson. They only have Premium awards available at 105,000 points per night.
The promotional night award books into Superior room that is not available using points. Bit weird, right?
This was a great promotion from Club Carlson and I was able to use both Free Friday nights from this offer in a meaningful way (haven’t consumed them yet).
The booking process is bit weird, however. You need to use both the ecertificate number AND the promotional code. If you see the certificate sitting in your account, this is easy to forget. You have to find the email to explain the redemption process.
