SPG has launched an interesting offer to drive new member sign ups in the United States and Canada by offering a free night certificate capped at category 1 – 5 properties after two stays.

Conclusion

This is certainly interesting. Cannot remember the last time SPG would have had promotion to drive new member sign ups. Marriott Rewards has continuously has an offer such as this (and they do have one right now as well for new members).

Here are the terms and conditions of this promotion:

Eligible guest residing in the U.S. and Canada must enroll in the SPG® program and register online at spgpromos.com/enrollmentoffer by December 15, 2017, 11:59 p.m. EST. Eligible member can then earn one (1) Free Night Award after completing two (2) eligible paid stays. Member may earn a maximum of one (1) Free Night Award from October 15, 2017, through December 31, 2017 (the “promotion” and the “promotion period”). This promotion is nontransferable. Bookings made prior to the promotion period are eligible, but only eligible stays consumed during the promotion period will earn a bonus.

A “stay” is a stay of one or more consecutive nights at the same SPG-participating hotel by an SPG member who: (A) provides his/her SPG member number at the time of reservation or at check-in; (B) pays an eligible rate; and (C) stays in one of the reserved guest rooms. If an SPG member checks out of a guest room and then checks back in to a guest room at the same SPG-participating hotel on the same day, it will count as a single stay for purposes of calculating stays. 

An “eligible stay” is a stay with at least one (1) eligible paid night at any of the over 1,500 hotels and resorts in the SPG program, paying an eligible paid rate during the promotion period. An “eligible rate” is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints® in the Starwood Preferred Guest® program. Free Night Award stays and Cash & Points stays are not eligible stays for this promotion. Hotels and resorts in the SPG program can be found at spg.com/terms under section 1.2. A description of eligible stays and eligible rates can be found at spg.com/terms under section 2.1. An SPG member may only earn Starpoints, Eligible Nights and Eligible Stays for up to three guest rooms during any eligible stay if he/she stays in one of the reserved guest rooms and pays an eligible rate for all of the guest rooms. Please note that certain prepaid rooms where the booking is made through a third party (including but not limited to travelocity.com, expedia.com and booking.com) are not eligible rates and do not earn Starpoints or qualify toward promotional earnings. 

Free Night Awards will be credited to the eligible member’s account within 2–4 weeks of the eligible stay posting to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account. Free Night Awards can be redeemed at any SPG Category 1–5 hotels or resorts for a standard double or single occupancy room (a full list of room redemption SPG Award options and their respective terms and conditions is available on spg.com/redeem) for any night of the week. Free Night Awards must be redeemed for stays consumed by April 30, 2018. Eligible members should call SPG customer service and mention Award ID A1QFN1-5 to redeem. Awards are not transferable and may not be redeemed for cash or Starpoints. Unused Awards will be forfeited. Free Night Award stay(s) and night(s) will count toward elite-earning qualification. Free Night Award(s) are combinable and may be added to existing paid or Award stays. 

This promotion is nontransferable and void for Marriott International, Inc., employees.

Pursuant to Section 12.2.b.iii. of the SPG Terms and Conditions, Starwood may cancel an SPG Member’s accumulated Starpoints, suspend SPG Program benefits, suspend Elite Preferred Guest Membership Status, SPG Lifetime Gold Status and SPG Lifetime Platinum Status, or cancel an SPG Member’s account at any time with immediate effect and without written notice, for any reason and in Starwood’s sole discretion including, without limitation, if Starwood believes the SPG Member has acted in an inappropriate, fraudulent, abusive or hostile manner.

This promotion may be combined with other Starpoints or Free Night Award promotions in market during the same time; however, earnings are exclusive of each other. All promotions are subject to the Starwood Preferred Guest program terms and conditions, which are subject to change without notice and can be found at spg.com.
