Last week, I wrote about (access here) two distinctive Le Meridien hotels that were both exiting Marriott/Starwood system on January 4, 2018; Le Parker Meridien Palm Springs and New York.
Both hotels had had very rocky relationship with Starwood due to award night reimbursement fraud that the management at both hotels did for years, although the matter was later settled (read more here, here, here and here).
Parker Palm Springs has sent out the email above to the guests who have stayed at the hotel previously. I would assume that the New York property has done the same.
Both hotels that are joining the Leading Hotels of the World soft brand are hinting that they might be able to get the Leader’s Club joining fee waived for those that stay at their hotels (this has been waived for certain credit card holders as too).
I have also received a word from Marriott that both properties have decided are to honor paid and award reservations beyond the switch over date of January 4, 2018.
I have never stayed at the New York property that has received very mixed reviews with their delivery (or not) of SPG benefits and never ending junk fees, but I have certainly liked the vibe of their Palm Springs one when I I stayed there few times while back.
The great hotel in Helsinki that was part of SPG’s Luxury Collection and left (Kamp) also joined the Leading Hotels of The World. Not sure if there are many guests that choose the hotel where they stay at based on the Leader’s Club participation having a quick look at the benefits offered.
