Alaska Airlines launched last month up to 40% bonus for buying Mileage Plan miles that ends tomorrow (February 7, 2018). Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Buy Miles January 2018

Alaska Airlines is not part of any global alliance but has ties with many airlines for earning and redeeming miles such as Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Finnair.

You can access Alaska’s web page for buying and gifting miles here.

Note that Alaska Airlines doesn’t limit the number of miles that you can purchase over a calendar year like some other airlines do. They merely have a 60,000 mile limit before bonus per transaction .

The price of Alaska Airlines miles purchased at the 40% bonus level is 2.11 cents each.

Conclusion

Alaska Airlines miles are useful for partner awards on premium cabins on airlines such as Cathay Pacific. Just make sure that the award availability exists before you purchase the miles.

Alaska Airlines sells Mileage Plan miles number of times throughout the year and the maximum bonus has been 50%, although this is very rare. The typical purchase bonus is this 40%.

Only Mileage Plan™ members who receive this offer directly from Alaska Airlines via email are qualified to participate. This is a non-transferable offer for the intended recipient only and may not be forwarded.

Transactions must be completed between 6:00 AM PST January 16, 2018 and 11:59 PM PST February 7, 2018 to be eligible for bonus miles.

Miles are purchased from Points.com Inc. for a cost of $27.50 per 1,000 miles, plus a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax*, and GST/HST for Canadian residents.

Miles are non-refundable and do not count toward MVP and MVP/Gold status. Offer is subject to change and all terms and conditions of the Mileage Plan Program apply.
