This week the Fabulous Fridays deals with how hotels recognize their frequent/return guest in top of the possible loyalty program status that the chain may have.
You sometimes see people commenting how they didn’t get that upgrade for having XYZ status with the chain not taking into account that it was their first stay at that specific property. Hotels tend to prioritize upgrades for the guests that have stayed previously and sometimes give milestone gifts too.
You can access InterContinental Bangkok’s website here.
Well. I have stayed at the InterContinental Bangkok way more than 20 times but had “account reset” perhaps 10 years ago that wiped my previous stay history with IHG.
Quite a few hotels give you special upgrades at 20/50/100 stays including presidential suites, but I was happy with the chocolate presentation and watermelon juice instead of the usual red wine bottle (juice is my preference that they have on record). Had a chat with the new hotel manager who had just arrived from Abu Dhabi.
I stay at quite a few hotels when in Bangkok and InterContinental is one of the hotels that I prefer. I really like the Club InterContinental ambiance and location on the top floor. Nothing beats the view of the Bangkok jockey club.
Couple of years back, I had a small issue when I had new employee “lecturing” me about the Royal Ambassador upgrades at the check in. I just opened my laptop, booked another hotel and left. There are so many good options in Bangkok and especially at close vicinity of InterContinental.
