U.S. Travel Association Daily Getaways Start On April 9, 2018 (Preview Available From April 2nd)

The U.S. Travel Association’s Daily Getaways are back once again in 2018 and will start on April 9th with a preview being available a week before.

Daily Getaways will start previews on April 2nd and they usually unveil the offers for the first three weeks at this time.

You can access Daily Getaways here and they also offer a reminder newsletter if you wish to enroll.

These were the partners in 2017:

  • Alamo Rent-a-Car
  • Avis Car Rental
  • Best Western International
  • Caesars Entertainment
  • Carnival Cruise Line
  • Choice Hotels International
  • Expedia
  • Fairmont Hotels and Resorts
  • Hertz Rent-a-Car
  • Hilton Hotels and Resorts
  • Hyatt Hotels and Resorts
  • InterContinental Hotel Group
  • Las Vegas Sands Corporation
  • Loews Hotels and Resorts
  • Marriott International
  • MGM Resorts International
  • Omni Resorts and Hotels
  • SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment
  • Universal Parks and Resorts
  • Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

The offers aren’t up yet but for example you can access the Hyatt/Hertz offer from last year here to see how it works. Basically the Getaways advertise “2 Nights at a Hyatt Top Hotel, 3 Night at a Hyatt Suite, etc” but what it essentially does is to deposit points into a World of Hyatt Loyalty account which can then be used for stays. The same goes for most of the other hotel companies.

The good thing about this is that it’s totally up to the traveler what to use these points for. You can either use them for a full points stay or also cash & points, upgrades etc. Prices for Hyatt points in 2017 were typically 1.1 cent per point (30,000 points for US$330). With Hyatt now counting award stays as qualifying stays it makes this offer even more attractive.

Update: We received word that this campaign is no longer sponsored by American Express so the discount that has been available in the past will not apply anymore. Too bad!

Conclusion

Daily Getaways allow the public to buy points and gift cards for a decent price. The list of partners has always been pretty identical over the years and so I’d expect to see most of the partners from last year back in 2018.
