Hilton Honors Diamond Extension Now Active For 2018 (Request By March 28)

Hilton Honors has now enabled web page where Diamond members that are about to be downgraded can request their status to be extended one time.

Member must have been Diamond member minimum of three years (don’t need to be consecutive) and have 250 or more consumed nights or earned at minimum 500,000 base points.

Note that you must apply for the extension by March 28, 2018, and Hilton promises to process it within five business days. You can take advantage of this status extension only one time.

  • Current Diamond status

  • Three total years at Diamond status (years do not have to be consecutive).

  • At least 250 nights (paid or reward) OR 500,000+ earned Base Points since joining Hilton Honors.

This one-time Diamond extension can come handy for those that have sudden drop in travel. They can extend the status for another year.

1. What is the Diamond Status Extension benefit?

Exclusively for Hilton Honors Diamond Members who meet the criteria below, this benefit allows them to extend their Diamond status for an additional year beyond when it would have expired otherwise, should they be unable to qualify for any reason.

2. Who is eligible for the Diamond Status Extension benefit?

Members who meet the following criteria are eligible for the new Diamond benefit:

Must currently be a Diamond Member, have earned Diamond status for at least 3 years, but the years do not need to be consecutive.

AND Have completed stays totaling at least 250 nights, paid or reward

OR Have accumulated 500,000 Base Points or more since joining Hilton Honors.

Essentially, there are two (2) combinations that will qualify a Member for the New Diamond Benefit:

3+ years at Diamond and currently at Diamond with at least 250 nights (paid or reward)
3+ years at Diamond and currently at Diamond with at least 500,000 lifetime Base Points

3. Do Bonus Points count towards achieving the criteria?

No. As with our Diamond status criteria, only Base Points are eligible. Points earned via bonuses, promotions and/or co-branded credit cards do not count towards meeting these criteria.

4. How many times can I use this benefit?

Qualifying Members may enact this benefit once throughout the lifetime of their membership.

5. Am I eligible if I previously had Diamond status?

To take advantage of this benefit, a Member must meet the criteria and currently be a Diamond Member.

6. Does the Diamond Status Extension benefit count towards my Lifetime Diamond requirements?

Yes, all qualifying activity achieved during the Diamond Status Extension period will count towards the requirements for achieving Lifetime Diamond.

7. If I did a status match, does that year of Diamond status count towards this benefit?

Yes, any time-period in which a member held Diamond status will count in regards towards eligibility of the Diamond Status Extension benefit.

8. How long does the Diamond status granted by this benefit last?

If a Member elects to use this benefit, their Diamond status will be extended for an additional year beyond when it would have expired otherwise.

9. What happens at the end of the status year when I have applied this benefit?

At the end of the year in which this benefit was applied, Members will need to have completed the normal requirements to maintain Diamond status. If Diamond requirements are not met, Members will be placed in the tier they achieved in accordance with the program terms.

10. When can members take advantage of this benefit?

At the beginning of the year, eligible Diamond members have the ability to extend their Diamond status for one-year, one-time, for any reason. The submission timeframe runs from February through March 28th right before a Member’s status is updated on April 1st reflecting their stay activity from the previous year. Outside of this submission timeframe, Members can fill out a form through this link to request that an email is sent, early in the year, to inform them of their eligibility status and remind them to submit the extension request. Here are the terms and conditions of the Diamond extension:

A Diamond Status Extension will be awarded to select Hilton Honors members, who are current Diamond members and have earned Diamond Status for at least 3 years (consecutive or non-consecutive) and who have completed stays totaling at least 250 paid and reward nights OR who are current Diamond members and have earned Diamond Status for at least 3 years (consecutive or non-consecutive) and who have earned at least 500,000 Base Points over life of membership, pursuant to the standard Hilton Honors Terms & Conditions.

To be eligible, a Hilton Honors member must meet the stated criteria and currently be a Diamond Member. Points earned via bonuses, promotions and/or co-branded credit cards do not count towards meeting the Diamond Status Extension criteria.
