Malaysia Airlines last time updated its Satellite Golden Lounge before it was admitted to Oneworld back in 2013. Airlines operate the long-haul flights from this satellite terminal in Kuala Lumpur airport, although sometimes they might have short-haul flights leaving from there as well.
The airline closed the lounge roughly five months ago for renovations and I was surprised to find it reopened today when I was transiting in Kuala Lumpur to Australia. The lounge is currently open from 5AM until midnight daily.
You can access Malaysia Airlines here.
The entrance to the lounge is basically in top of the train that brings passengers to the satellite terminal. You need to make bit of a detour to get to the second level.
Left side is business class lounge and right side is the first class one.
First Class Dining
This is a nice update from the previous version but not sure why it took five months? The previous cigar room in the first class lounge is now a private room and the private napping rooms are public. The first class bathrooms were not open.
I like the fact that they have kept the first class lounge even when their first class service is highly curtailed. It is basically lounge for Emerald members and first class customers of other airlines.
The first class dining makes sense if you have time. Otherwise, it is probably better just to walk the business class side and serve yourself.
